Paired rosaries for a doctor husband and nurse wife
I was asked to create a pair of matching/complimentary rosaries for a doctor and his nurse wife, in gratitude for their care. The client and I played with various combinations of the birthstones (November, October, July) and she chose to have each one have their own birthstone, with their spouse’s and children’s birthstones as accents. The doctor’s has his November birthstone (honey-topaz crystal) with lampwork Paters and accents of his wife’s October birthstone (pink crystals) and children’s July birthstone (ruby crystals), while the wife’s rosary reverses the birthstones and has her husband’s and children’s birthstones as the accents around the same Paters. Both have a St. Benedict-medal crucifix, which carries the indulgenced prayers for protection against harm.
I had in my collection these antique Penin-style medals that are both visually similar and very appropriate for those who minister in healthcare; I custom wire-wrapped them as centers. Both have the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the front, and complimentary icons of Our Lady on the reverse (Mater Bonii Consilii on the doctor’s and Our Lady of Sorrows on the nurse’s rosary). These medals are some of my favorites.
