Description

I can recreate this rosary with the same Aves and Paters, with similar or different center and crucifix–please enquire!

This January-birthstone Preciosa crystal rosary pairs 8mm siam (garnet-colored) crystal Aves with 14mm oval lampwork Paters of ruby and clear glass enhanced with applied pink roses, gold vines, and tiny green leaves. The Paters are set off (and protected by) silver-plated cones and 4mm white shell pearls.

The center is a vintage aluminum medal with Our Lady of Lourdes on the front and St. Bernadette seeing Our Lady in the grotto on the reverse; it is square-diamond-shaped with a floral, pierced border.  The coordinating vintage aluminum crucifix fleuree has trilobed arms featuring a rosebud with three leaves; the reverse says “Je vous serai fidele toujours, Seigneur” (I will be faithful always, Lord”) and has the Christogram IHS encircled in the center (a representation of the Sacred Host) and a fleur-de-lis at the bottom.

Because it was not necessary to use the original loop of the center medal, I added a single “Mary’s tear” bead to it (a clear crystal teardrop).  The Mary’s Tears beads often appeared on rosaries of the early 20th century and were usually three teardrop beads as a chain tassel attached at one of the intersections.  These Tears were meant to represent the tears Our Lady shed for us at Calvary and at her apparitions such as at La Salette; on a Lourdes rosary, they can also represent the healing waters of Lourdes.

The rosary is fully wire-wrapped with sterling-silver filled wire.
