Description
A mid-20th-century figural center is the focal point of this sapphire crystal rosary. The front of the center depicts Our Lady in adoration as seen most famously in Ingres’ painting “The Virgin Adoring the Host” or in icons of the Nativity. The reverse has the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is paired with a Pardon Crucifix which carries many indulgences from Pope St. Pius X (see here for a complete description of this powerful devotion). Both are silver-plated and antiqued.
The Ave beads are 8mm sapphire-colored Preciosa crystals and the Pater beads are lampwork rosebuds in shades of aqua and white, set off and protected by a silver-plated star-shaped spacer and cobalt seed beads.
The rosary is fully wire-wrapped in 1/10 sterling-filled wire with unbreakable loops, including the links (with 4mm crystal Xilion bicones) joining the decades and parts.
This rosary would be a lovely September birthday rosary.
