Description

(The salmon-pink jade beads that form the Aves of this rosary are in stock for a custom rosary, and similar scapular centers and mother-of-pearl crucifixes are available.)

A beautiful sterling silver Scapular medal forms the center of this rosary. The Aves are 8mm salmon-pink jade beads with lovely internal flashes of light (natural, not dyed) paired with large lampwork rondelles of peridot glass decorated with an ivory band with navy swirls enclosing pink roses as Paters.  The Paters are complemented by antiqued silverplate bead caps, 4mm white shell pearls, and tiny rose seed beads.

The antique crucifix is mother of pearl with a silverplate corpus.  The reverse was engraved starting at the top “N D de” then across “(unreadable) de” and then resuming lengthwise “Bon Secours”. In full, this would be Notre Dame de (some place, probably a pilgrimage cathedral or shrine) de Bon Secours” translating as “Our Lady of (Place) of Good Help”.  I purchased this crucifix from a dealer in Montreal, so it is likely that the place is Montreal, the famous Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours associated with St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, the ‘Mother of Canada’ and patroness of Canadian education and homesteading (one of my favorite saints!).

Silver-filled 22 gauge wire was used for all links and wrapping; the connectors also have tiny rose seed beads.

This pink jade, as a pink semi-precious stone, could be used as an October birthstone.
