Description
Two vintage silver-plated pieces anchor this jade rosary: a delicate heart-shaped, cutout Scapular center and a crucifix fleurée. The front of the center has the Sacred Heart surmounted by a rose swag, while on the reverse is a tiny depiction of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel with the Child Jesus. I suspect that the center was rhodium plated, as it is very shiny and does not have any antiquing or flaking (i.e., any dark spots are from camera angles; it is so shiny that it is difficult to get good detail pictures!). The crucifix fleurée (“flowered”, meaning that the arms end with lily shapes, like a budding flower) has been antiqued to bring out the details. Both pieces are in excellent shape for having been previously used on a rosary.
The Ave beads are 8mm wine-purple jade paired with 12mm Paters of white tensha beads with purple roses; the Paters are surrounded by 4mm white Swarovski crystal pearls and 3mm cyclamen opal Swarovski Xilian bicones which are also used on the connector links.
The rosary is fully wire-wrapped in 1/10 sterling-filled wire with unbreakable loops, including the links joining the decades and parts.
This rosary would be a lovely February birthday rosary, or June for those who like the color of alexandrites under lamplight (these jade beads are that wine-red/purple color, not real alexandrites).
